Fibre Installation at Glen Willow for Mid-Western Regional Council

The Challenge

Mid-Western Regional Council (MWRC) required fibre installation for a new training centre at the Glen Willow Sporting Complex in Mudgee. The project faced significant challenges due to the geographical complexity of the route, which involved creek and road crossings.

Additionally, the installation had to be completed during major sporting events, including the yearly NRL game, while minimising physical and visual disruptions to fans, players and the overall atmosphere of the venue.

Our Solution

Our team developed a multidisciplinary civil works package that included underboring all major areas to reduce excavation impact. This innovative approach allowed us to navigate the challenging terrain and maintain minimal disruption to sporting events at the complex.

By working around MWRC’s high-profile schedule and providing open, frequent communication, we ensured stakeholder confidence. Feedback highlighted that our reporting and collaboration set a new standard for contractors working with the IT department.

The Outcome

The project was completed within the specified two-month timeframe and met the allocated budget of approximately $120,000, which was a significant capital expenditure for MWRC’s IT department.

Although the Glen Willow training centre is still under construction, our early completion ensures a seamless transition for data and network installation when the centre becomes operational. Our work helped position the site for future success, reflecting our ability to deliver high-quality results efficiently.
